Meet our Founder

Mrs. Vandana Luthra, Founder, VLCC Group, made her entrepreneurial debut in 1989, by opening a Wellness & Beauty services centre in New Delhi, India, which seamlessly integrated dietary modification and exercise regimen-based weight management programs with cutting-edge skin and hair treatments. This was at a time when the Wellness & Beauty industry at large was still nascent and the concept of combining wellness and beauty as an approach to holistic wellbeing, as initiated by Mrs. Luthra, was a completely new paradigm.

Mrs. Luthra has since been working painstakingly to build recognition of the Wellness & Beauty industry in the 12 countries where VLCC currently operates as an organized sector with high-quality standards, benchmarked services, and a focus on customer satisfaction while employing cutting-edge technology and applications.

She is widely recognized as a visionary in the wellness & beauty industry, and is the recipient of the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, for her contribution to Trade & Industry. She was also the Founding Chairperson of the industry-led, Government of India-backed Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council. Among her many accolades, she has featured in the Forbes list of 50 Power Businesswomen in the APAC region and been part of Fortune magazine’s annual listing of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business in India from 2011 to 2017. She has also featured in the Forbes listing of Top Indian Leaders In The Arab World and in the “2020 Power Women” list of Femina magazine.

Apart from being a pioneer in the Wellness & Beauty industry, Mrs. Luthra is also passionate about women empowerment and skill development. Women comprise over 70 per cent of the VLCC Group’s 3,000-strong workforce. Seven out of ten department heads in the organisation are women. Lead managers of its 322 outlets across 12 countries are exclusively women. VLCC also operates 97 VLCC Institutes of Beauty & Nutrition, which impart skills training in beauty and nutrition at entry-level as well as for skill enhancement. Over 70% of students in these Institutes are women, reiterating Mrs. Luthra’s commitment to ensure gender parity and career opportunities for women.
